漯河市位于河南省中部，辖临颖、舞阳两县和源汇区、郾城区、召陵区、高新区四区，总面积2617平方公里，总人口253万，城市人口48万人，是河南省人口密度最大的市。
漯河的历史源远流长，早在新石器时代，我们的祖先就在这里定居生息。漯河城市启于北魏，盛于明清，曾以商贸和水陆交通发达而享誉中原，素有“水旱码头”之称，被誉为“江南百货萃、此处星辰罗”的商埠重镇。舞阳县贾湖遗址出土的国宝一一七音骨笛，是迄今发现世界上最早的至今仍能演奏的乐器，它将人类的音乐和文化史向前推进了3000多年。这里诞生了被后人尊称为“文宗字祖”的世界第一部字典《说文解字》的作者许慎。全国唯一的三国历史遗迹“受禅台”和“三绝碑”。还有早于赵州桥20多年，被誉为天下第一桥的隋代小商桥……
漯河又是一座现代气息浓郁的城市。她的年轻，是因为1986年才升格为省辖市，充满了蓬勃向上的朝气和活力。当沙澧河上横跨6座如彩虹飞架的大桥，当京广、漯宝等4条铁路交汇于市区，当6条国道、省道经市区向周边辐射，当4条高速公路相继建设和开通，形成铁路、高速公路“双十字”交通枢纽，距郑州国际机场不足一个小时的路程，澧河，这座历史悠久的商埠重镇，今天又以她交通的发达和区位的优越而彰显出年轻的魅力！说她年轻，还因为她是一座布满绿色的城市。水量丰沛的沙澧二河入市交汇，给这座北方城市注入了南方水乡的灵气。沿河布绿、沿路造林、森林进城、森林围城，绿色成了这座城市的主旋律，全市绿化覆盖率达到43. 9%,人均绿地面积13. 2平方米，居全国前列。“全国卫生先进城市”，“全国园林绿化先进城市”，“国家园林城市”，“中国人居环境范例奖”，这一块块金字招牌无不在告诉人们，课河是一座生机盎然的美丽城市。
漯河的美丽是由持续快速发展的经济支撑起来的。“八五”期间，漯河市是全国发展最快的三十个城市之一。“九五”期间，国民经济连年保持两位数的高速增长，在国家统计局举行的全国265个地级以上城市综合实力评估比较中，漯河居第71位，在河南省仅次于省会郑州，位居第二位；按环境和基础设施比较，浑河居全国第10位。目前，浑河市人均GDP达到1400美元，分别超过河南省和全国平均水平400美元和70美元。
漯河是一个产业特色明显的城市，是全国第一个也是目前全国唯一的“中国食品名城”，形成了以食品工业为主导，造纸、纺织、机械、化工、制革制鞋工业六轮驱动、竞相发展的产业特色。培育出全国最大肉类加工企业双汇集团，全国最大的方便面生产企业之一南街村集团，全国第一家葡萄糖饮料生产企业澳的利集团。形成了以粮食深加工、以肉类精加工、以果蔬加工、以饮料制造四大主导产业和高效种植养殖、食品机械、食品包装等配套产业。年加工转化粮食300万吨，占河南省的20%,是全市粮食总产量的2.5倍。年屠宰生猪1400万头，肉制品产量100万吨，占全国的25%。有5家全国食品百强企业，8家全省食品50强企业，以骄人的业绩稳居全国食品工业企业首位。自2003年，漯河市连年举办“中原食品节”，吸引了国内外众多知名食品企业云集漯河。“中原食品节”正成为区域性会展品牌，越来越多的漯河制造正在走向全国、走向世界。

Welcome to Luohe, the First Famous Food City
When the tide of reform and opening up is forwarding to Henan province, the old central plains becomes young and vigorous .When the clear water of Shahe and Lihe River meet in the city and winding to the east, maybe it tells us that this is a miracle land and hot place. Here we are talking about Luohe, an old and young city, the first famous food city in Whole China.
Luohe is in the middle of Henan province controlling Counties of Linying and Wuyang County and Yuanhui, Yancheng, Shaoling and Hi-tech New District with total area of 2617 square kilometers and total population of 2.53 million and it is the most impacted area in Henan province.
Being old, her history is long. In Neolith age, our father had lived in this place. Luohe had been a town from North Wei Dynasty (386-534) and prosper in Ming (1368-1644) and Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), enjoying the title of ‘water and land dock’ famous for trade and easy transportation. It was regarded as an important commercial port of ‘gathering excellent articles in whole China and the goods were as much as stars in the sky ’. Luohe boasts many preserved scenic spots and historical sites . For example, a bone flute was discovered in Luohe and it still can be played now, the earliest music instrument ever found in the world, which had advanced music and cultural history of human being 3000 years than expected. Luohe is the birth place of Mr. Xu Shen, an editor of the first Chinese dictionary father of Chinese characters. ‘Shouchan Platform’and ‘Sanjue Stele ’ are the only history ruins of Three Kingdoms (220-280) in China. Besides, Xiao Shang Bridge, the first stone bridge in China, built in A.D.584, which is earlier more than 20 years than Zhaozhou Bridge.
Being young Luohe has been a provincial city in 1986 and she is full of energy and youthful spirit. In a short decade, the city area has become 43 kilometers from 9.5 kilometers with population 420 thousand. There are six bridges crossing Shahe and Lihe Rivers, four railway lines crossing six state and provincial highway connecting with surrounding areas, which form double crosses hub of transportation. It is only less than hour from Luohe to Zhengzhou International Airport. Today she is young and charming for her advantage of location and transportation. Being young, another reason is Luohe is watery and full of green. Abundant water of two rivers makes her like a southern water town. Green belt along the rivers, forestation along the road and forest surrounding the city, green is her main theme and the green coverage rate tops 43.9% and average area of green is 13.2%, ranking top in China. Forestation, beautification and illuminations make her level upgrading. ‘Advanced city for sanitation in China’, ‘Advanced city for National Garden Green’, and ‘A national garden city’ these honor titles tell you she is a beautiful and vigorous city.
The beauty of Luohe comes from its economic growth. Luohe was one of thirty cities with fast growth during the period of the eighth five-year-plan in China, and her economic growth kept in more than 10 %in the ninth five-year- plan. Luohe had ranked 71 in national 265 cities in same lever for her comprehensive force by National Statistic Bureau in 2002. She is just second to Zhengzhou, capital city of Henan province. Comparing with environment and infrastructure, Luohe tops tenth in China. Today’s Luohe is nine times of that in 1986 in gross quantity of economy. At present, the per capita GDP in Luohe is 1400 US dollars, higher 400 US dollars and 70 US dollars than that in Henan and whole China.
With obvious characteristics of industry, Luohe is the first and unique famous food city in China, driven by food, papermaking, textile, mechanical and chemical the six pillar industries. Shineway Group is the largest meat processing corp. in China, Nanjie Village Group is one of the largest instant noodle manufacturing companies in China, and Aodeli Group is the first glucose drink manufacturing companies in China. Heading by grain deep processing, meat refine processing, vegetables processing and series beverages manufacturing, a matching industries of planting and raising, food machinery and food packing have been formed in Luohe. The annual quantity of processed grains has topped 3 million tons, 2.5 times of that of in Luohe, 20% of that of in Henan province; the annual quantity of cutting live pigs has topped 14 million, and the productivity of meat products 1 million tons, 25% of the whole China. There are 5 top national food companies and 8 top 50 provincial food companies in Luohe. From 2003, ‘central China Food fair’ had been held here year-by-year, which had attracted thousands of food companies gathering. ‘Central China Food fair’ has become a regional brand of exhibition, making more and more food companies of Luohe head for the world.
Although Luohe is in inland, she has a firm determination of reform and open economy policy and makes the city a focus place for investment in the middle and west region. At present, Luohe has established trade relations with almost 100 countries and regions and there are more than 20 countries and regions have invested here , such as Duppon Co. , Nippon Swine Co. , Nippon Toyota, the three top 500 in the world and a batch of famous one s have set up more than 100 joint venture companies, which has formed one of backbones of Luohe’s economy for the amount of their output value and their tax paid to local finance have reached one third of gross industrial output value and financial revenue of the city. Her foreign trade export is growing at yearly 30%,and there are 360 companies who have right of foreign trade. The exported amount of Fresh freeze pork tops 87% of that in Henan, and 25% of that in China. Products of made in Luohe have sold to more than 60 countries and regions.
Prosperous economy also drives vigorous development of science, health, culture, sports and tourism. In recent years, the national first-class gymnasium and library have been constructed as well as a few of vocational schools. With special views of Nanjie Village and Shineway Group, the number of tourists to the city can be more than 50 thousand people each year.
